Lighthouses and beacons are primitive constructions that serve to indicate, through light or sound signals, the maritime routes for sailors; they also serve to mark potential dangers for ships, such as rocks, breakwaters, sandbanks, and so on.
In both cases — especially in the case of lighthouses — these are often oversized, slender structures, technically well designed and engineered to fulfill their function in highly hostile environments. From this contrast — between the impassive rotating light in the silence of the night and the wind and waves assailing it from outside — lighthouses and beacons have cultivated an image that is as poetic as it is unsettling, at times surrounded by a certain mystery.
The result of this research is a mobile system with electrical joints, allowing lightspots on its rods tips. The points of light advance with a hypnotic slowness, tracing ellipses that intersect and transform, evoking the silent universe of a starry sky and the precise dance of satellites.
Viewed from the stalls, the frontal perspective offers a completely different vision of the installation, reminding us of the beacons along the coast that guide navigators. The piece invites the viewer to be carried away by the poetry of movement and light.
